St. Louis – Maryville University volleyball set a school record for hitting percentage at .461 and dominated William Jewell College 25-12, 25-9, 25-13. The Saints had 47 kills and just six errors on 89 swings to surpass the previous record hitting mark of .440 set Oct. 6, 2007.
 
How it Happened
The Saints came out strong and scored the first four points of the match forcing an early time out by the Cardinals. The Saints built a 12-4 lead in the first set and never looked back. Maryville's offense was firing on all cylinders, hitting .400 as a team in the first set. The Maryville defense held the Cardinals to a .058 attack percentage in the opener.
 
The Saints sprinted to a 7-0 start in the second set. The Cardinals got to within 10-5 but the Saints reeled for nine straight points for a 19-5 lead.  In the third, the Saints led 11-8 then blew the frame open with a 7-0 surge behind 
Mallory Sell's serving, including three straight aces. Maryville hit .500 in the final set with 14 kills, just one error on 26 attempts.
 
Emma Hoing led the way with a match-high 13 kills on a .476 hitting percentage, while 
Ella Brinkmann added nine kills and hit .529. 
Lynsey Batson and 
Leslie Longanbach each finished with six kills and over a .600 hitting efficiency. Setter 
Taylor Reynolds distributed the offense with 26 assists as the Saints hit over .400 in every set. 
Olivia Klump anchored the back row with 10 digs, and 
Cami Kohmetscher chipped in 12 assists more as Maryville controlled the serve-receive battle.
