FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. — It's back-to-back podium finishes for the Maryville bowling team as the Saints finished just one game behind Valparaiso to place second at the McKendree-hosted Bearcat Invitational. The Saints went 9-4 over their three days at St. Clair Bowl.
 
Brooke Pabst and Elizabeth Teuber led the Saints, finishing 13th and 14th, respectively, in the individual standings. Savannah Swiatocha was not far behind, placing 18th.
 
Friday's baker action saw the Saints get off to a hot start, knocking off Oklahoma Christian, the team they faced in the GLVC title match last season. Two more wins came next, one against Newman and one against Western Illinois before dropping a 1085-1001 strike fest to eventual tournament champion Valpariso. A final win against Jackson State wrapped up Friday action.
 
Central Missouri got the best of Maryville to open traditional play on Saturday, but the Saints rebounded to finish the day 3-2, including a 1009-908 win over the host Bearcats.
 
Seeded third for bracket play, the Saints were once again pushed by the Mules but came out with a clutch final two games to secure the opening 4-3 victory. The next match was much cleaner for the Saints, sweeping Sacred Heart while averaging 221 over four games.
 
In the championship match, the Saints and Valpo went blow for blow, with Maryville falling in the final winner-takes-all game to finish second.

The Saints are wrapped up for 2025 and return to the lanes in 2026 for the Northeast Classic, hosted by Sacred Heart, Friday, Jan. 16.
