ST. LOUIS – The Maryville women's basketball team suffered its first defeat of the season as No. 17 Concordia St. Paul recorded an 81-69 victory over the Saints.
Lindsey Schadewalt led the Saints with 21 points, while
Claire Lueken had 13 points, and
Madyson Rigdon sank four 3-pointers en route to 12 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints were down 17-13 after the first but the Golden Bears pushed the margin to double digits by halftime. Maryville responded after the break, erupting for 23 points in the third quarter and trimming the margin with a 10-0 run. Schadewalt had a three-point play and added a layup.
Gracie Gopalan sank a pullup jumper, and a corner 3-pointer by Lueken brought the Saints to within 44-39. However, CSP used a 12-4 run to rebuild a 59-46 edge.

The Saints continued to push in the fourth, matching CSP with another 23-point period. Schadewalt attacked the rim to get to the free-throw line with three straight, and Rigdon each knocked down a 3-pointer from the top of the key. Gopalan sank two at the line as the Saints got to within 63-54 with 6:34 to play. The Saints forced 16 turnovers and converted them into 17 points and sank 13 3-pointers.
