CLEVELAND – Already tabbed as the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Freshman of the Year and All-GLVC First Team,
Sophia Carter of Maryville women's soccer adds another accolade to her impressive freshman campaign. Carter now can claim first team status for the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Midwest Region teams. Carter becomes just the second freshman in program history to earn D2CCA honors. The last being
Agnes Vilen just a year ago.
A freshman midfielder, Carter is the offensive leader for the Saints, starting 17 games and appearing in 21 for a total of 1,456 minutes. During that time, she recorded seven goals and four assists, sitting at 18 points on the year.
The Saints are just days away from the third round of the NCAA tournament, playing hosts to St. Louis-rival, Missouri-St. Louis Sunday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m.
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education.
