INDIANAPOLIS – The Maryville men's soccer team is semifinal bound in the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament after defeating No. 4 seed UIndy 1-0 on Saturday night in Indianapolis.
Sebastian Weitlaner played the hero early, scoring in the sixth minute to give the fifth-seeded Saints a lead they would not relinquish in the Circle City. Goalkeeper
Asgrimur Vidisson and the Maryville back line held strong the rest of the way to secure the clean sheet. The victory is the third straight for the Saints.
The Saints will now head home and prepare for the GLVC tournament semifinals where they face No. 1-seed Rockhurst University Thursday, Nov. 13, in a 4 p.m. start at Creve Coeur Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Weitlaner's goal came just 5:30 into the match, and the senior forward's early strike proved to be the difference as Maryville fended off a persistent Greyhound attack.
Vidisson made two saves in net while the Saints defense limited UIndy to just three shots on goal despite 15 total attempts.
Maryville finished with seven shots and five corner kicks while maintaining its defensive shape to protect the one-goal advantage through 90 minutes.
