ST. LOUIS – The Maryville men's basketball team put five players in double figures but fell in overtime to Harris-Stowe 92-88 Tuesday evening.
Henry Sanchez topped the Saints with 21 points, while
Evan Palmquist and
Eric Hackett both had 14 points.
Lincoln Palbicki and
Cameron Liggins chipped in 10 points apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With the scored tied 65-65, the Saints scored six straight points to surge ahead. Palmquist started the run with a layup, and Sanchez sank two free throws and converted a driving layup. Maryville was still up by three before stretching the lead back to seven. Liggins tallied a bucket inside and two free throws by Hackett pushed the edge up to 77-70 with 1:52 to play. However, Harris-Stowe scored the final seven points of the second half, including a basket with 3.4 seconds to play and forced overtime.

The teams traded buckets to start overtime with Palmquist and Hackett scoring to tie the game at 81-all with three minutes to play. However, the Saints missed three straight field goal attempts while the Hornets sank six consecutive free throws to edge away late in the extra session. The Saints battled serious foul trouble all night and saw four players foul out of the contest.
