Clark's Near Triple-Double Boosts Saints to 86-68 Triumph Over UHSP

ST. LOUIS – Kobe Clark had a near triple-double to lead the Maryville men's basketball team to an 86-68 victory over University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy. Clark finished his monster game with nine points, 18 rebounds and eight assists. His 18 boards are the most since Nolan Berry pulled down 18 rebounds against Lewis Feb. 8, 2018. Noah Courtney, making his first appearance of the season, led four players in double figures with 19 points. Henry Sanchez and Cannon Roth both had 14 points, while Preston Clark finished with 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UHSP scored the first points of the game but the Saints answered with nine straight points to take a lead they would not surrender. Lincoln Palbicki got the Saints on the board before Preston Clark took over. He hit a jumper, a 3-pointer and scored on a layup for a 9-3 advantage.

UHSP stayed within range and closed to 21-18 before the Saints went on a 15-3 run late in the half. Kobe Clark scored inside, and Gabe Clemmons and Sanchez hit mid-range jumpers. Sanchez drilled a triple before the Saints sank three free throws. Another 3-pointer from Sanchez capped the burst at 36-21.

Maryville opened the second half with a 9-2 flurry to grab ahold of the contest. Sanchez again ripped the nets from deep before Roth recorded two free throws and a layup. Courtney knocked down a wing jumper for a 45-26 edge. The Saints slowly added on to their advantage. Eric Hackett sank a 3-pointer before Raynard Horry finished a 3-point play and a 61-39 advantage. UHSP made a run and cut the lead down the single digits but the Saints steadied themselves with a 9-2 run and put the game away.
