TYLER, TEXAS – In the first game of a tournament hosted at UT-Tyler, the Maryville women's basketball team suffered through a cold-shooting outing and lost to Fort Lewis 62-50. The game was tied at 49-49 with five minutes to play but Fort Lewis pulled away late.
Olivia Hahn led the Saints with 11 points, while
Madyson Rigdon added 10 points.
Alicia Burgos pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds. The Saints were held to a season-low 23.0 percent shooting.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fort Lewis led for most of the opening quarter but
Madyson Rigdon's bucket late cut the deficit to 12-11. The Saints fell behind 20-11 before two free throws by
Liz Behan and a jumper pulled the Saints to 20-15. Fort Lewis pushed the lead to double digits before
Olivia Hahn hit a 3-pointer and one free throw by
Gracie Gopalan brought the Saints to 31-25 at halftime.

Maryville stayed close in the third after two free throws by
Bree Shannon, a jumper by Hahn and a free throw made it 40-38. The Saints were down 43-40 heading into the final stanza. Rigdon nailed a 3-pointer as the Saints finally tied the score at 43-all. Fort Lewis pushed its edge back up to 49-43 but the Saints rallied.
Adylan Ayer made one free throw and later tacked on a jumper.
Annika Pluemer splashed in a 3-pointer as the Saints tied the score 49-49 with just over five minutes to play. The Maryville offense and Fort Lewis sank five free throws to retake the lead. A basket by Pluemer brought the Saints to 54-50 with 2:47 left but Fort Lewis scored the next eight points to hold on for the win.
