ST. LOUIS – The Maryville basketball men's team rallied from a 22-point deficit to take the lead but eventually lost an 82-73 decision to Upper Iowa.
Trey Redd led four Saints in double figures with 17 points, while
Lucas Burton finished with 15 points.
Luke Williams and 14 points and tied his season high with eight rebounds, while
Anthony Holden contributed 12 points and also tied his season best of eight boards. The Saints defense keyed the second-half surge by holding UIU to 26.7 percent shooting after the break.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Down by 22 in the first half, the deficit was still 47-29 with five minutes to play before the Saints reeled off 13 straight points. Burton sparked the burst with a 3-point play, and Redd had a layup. He fed
Francisco Espinosa with an alley-oop dunk before Williams scored back-to-back buckets as the Saints pulled to within 47-42. The Peacocks hit a late triple to take a 50-42 lead into halftime.

The gap was 58-51 until Maryville tallied six straight points. UIU was up 66-63 before Williams knocked down a jumper, and a Redd layup put the Saints on top 67-66 with 6:18 to play. Upper Iowa steadied itself with a 8-0 run for a 74-67 edge.
Davis Walker scored on a layup from the left side to trim the gap to 74-69 with three minutes remaining. However, the Saints never got closer as the Peacocks sealed the contest with four late free throws.
