QUINCY, ILL. –
Lucas Burton and
Luke Williams both surpassed the 20-point mark but the Maryville men's basketball team was edged out by Quincy 82-75. Burton hit 9-of-14 shots en route to 22 points, while Williams converted half of his field goals to total 21 points.
Trey Redd handed out a career-high nine assists to direct the Maryville offense.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Quincy led 27-20 until the Saints surged in front on the basis of an 11-0 run. Redd sparked the spree with a layup before Burton thundered home a dunk. Williams took over by scoring seven straight as the Saints went up 31-27. QU tied it but
Lawrence Brazil III sank a 3-pointer, and
Davis Walker scored just before halftime for a 38-34 lead.

Still up 46-43, Maryville tallied nine straight to grab its largest lead of the day. Burton had a layup, and Williams followed with one in the lane. Walker drilled a 3-pointer before another Burton hammer led to a 55-43 margin. The Saints held a small lead and were still leading 63-59 after a Williams triple. It was Quincy's turn to make a run and 11 straight put the hosts on top. The Saints answered with six of the next eight points and closed to 72-69. A layup by Williams cut the Quincy lead to 74-71 but the Hawks scored on two straight trips for a 78-71 lead. The Saints scored on their next two possessions but Quincy closed out the game by making four straight free throws in the final 15 seconds.
