Wagner’s Eight-RBI Day Highlights Monday at Washburn Invite

ST. LOUIS – Maryville softball wrapped up Monday at the Washburn Invitational with a 1-1 split. The Saints opened with a 5-3 loss to Fort Hays State before bouncing back with a 6-1 win over Northwest Missouri State.

Kaitlyn Wagner stole the show, launching three home runs across both games and driving in all six runs against NWMS.

Wagner becomes the ninth Saint in program history to record six RBIs in a game, the first since Emily Corona did it in 2023 versus Ohio Dominican. Her two bombs versus NWMS also ties the program record, becoming the 12th in program history to record multiple home runs in a game.

Prior to today's action, Wagner had just one career home run as a Saints, quadrupling her total with one day of play.

GAME 1 | FHSU 5, MARYVILLE 3
Wagner put Maryville on the board in the bottom of the third with her first home run of the day, a two-run shot that scored Jenna Kosnoff.

Fort Hays State answered quickly, plating three runs in the top of the fourth and never relinquishing the lead. Miranda Bondurant doubled in the bottom of the sixth to spark a comeback attempt, but it was too little, too late as the Saints fell 5-3.

GAME 2 | MARYVILLE 6, NWMS 1
Much like Game 1, Wagner got the Saints going early, crushing her second home run of the day—a three-run blast to right-center in the first inning.

NWMS responded with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third to cut the deficit, but Wagner wasn't done. The junior catcher capped her career day with a three-run homer to center in the top of the seventh, sealing the 6-1 win for Maryville
