KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Maryville softball team dropped both of its games at the Midwest Collegiate Classic in Kansas City, Mo., early on Saturday, losing to Emporia State 12-4 and Missouri Western 8-0.

GAME 1 | ESU 14, MARYVILLE 4
After just one frame, Emporia had already garnered a six run lead, one they built upon with a four spot in the second to leave it 10-0 after just two. Maryville responded with a four-spot of their own in the latter half of the second.

Mandi Lenon with an RBI single by
Emily Corona accounting for the Saints earned runs with ESU allowing a run to score on an error at second base.

Emporia did not let the four spot dissuade them as they piled on two runs in the fourth and the sixth to end the ballgame 14-5.

GAME 2 | MISSOURI WESTERN STATE 8, MARYVILLE 0
It was a dominant performance by the Griffons pitcher that quieted the Saints in game two of the day, with five innings of work including seven strikeouts and just one hit for the Saints. That hit came from
Cora Boyle in the third inning.

Ella Ludden got the start in the circle for the Saints with
Mercedes Delgado coming in relief later in the game.

The Saints finish their time in Kansas City, Mo., tomorrow with bouts against two Missouri teams. They first play Central Missouri at 10 a.m. and follow that up at 12:30 p.m. versus Northwest Missouri State.
