ST. LOUIS – The Maryville baseball team saw its Tuesday midweek with the Missouri Western Griffons come down to the wire, winning 8-7. With the win, the Saints move to 7-7 as they welcome Missouri S&T the St. Louis, this Friday for the beginning of Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

Both
Josh Herget and
Camden Ruby had multi-RBI days, with Ruby having both a double and a home run on the day.
Â
Noah Leingang, in his first appearance of the year, was spectacular on the mound. Tossing two spotless innings, getting six outs on just 12 pitches.
Noah Harbin earned his second save of the season in the ninth inning.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints surrendered an early run to the Griffons, but responded in a big way, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first, with
Ambrose Russo kicking it off with his second game-opening dinger of the season.
Â
The Griffons refused to go away, using two three-run innings to leave it 7-7 heading into the bottom of the eighth. A Ruby walk led off the inning with a sacrifice bunt by
Aaris Stolte moving him to second. That is where a pinch-hit knock by Sharp allowed Ruby to score from second.
Â
Harbin, despite working into trouble, got the job done in the ninth, striking out the final batter of the game.
