ST. LOUIS – The Maryville baseball team evened up its Great Lakes Valley Conference series with Missouri S&T via a dominating 12-1 run-rule game Saturday.
Braden Smith went the distance and surrendered just one run with six strikeouts, while the offense cranked out 12 runs on 15 hits, capped by
Aaris Stolte's grand slam in the bottom of the seventh.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Miners scored their only run of the game in the second frame. The Saints took the lead for good in the fourth.
Cameron Macon walked, and Stolte singled to left.
Jace Burton put down a sac bunt to push both runners into scoring position.
Dominic Sharp lashed a single to center that put the Saints up 2-1. Maryville tacked on a run in the sixth when
Cole Christman's sac fly plated Burton for a 3-1 lead.

The Saints broke it open in the bottom of the seventh and ended the game early. Macon launched a solo blast to left before Sharp doubled in a run, who later came home on a grounder that was misplayed for another run.
Michael Long singled in a run, and Macon was hit with the bases loaded to force home another run. Stolte then unloaded a grand slam to left that ended the game via run rule.
