Teuber Captures Music City Individual Crown, Saints Place Third

SMYRNA, Tenn. – It was a successful final weekend of regular season action for the Maryville bowling program as it placed third at the Vanderbilt hosted Music City Invitational. The Saints went an overall 11-2, averaging 204.5 a game as a team for an overall pinfall of 11,248.

Elizabeth Teuber was the story of the weekend as the freshman dominated a field of 198 on route to tournament MVP. She carried a 229 average over six games, with a total pinfall of 1,376. She tossed a 257 and a 269 in back-to-back games, only shooting below 200 once.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints were dominant from step one, rolling past Stephen F. Austin, Auror and Jackson State in their first three matches. A slip up to a tough Louisiana Tech squad was the lone loss in baker action.

Maryville kept that going, going a perfect 5-0 on traditional play, including a 996-979 win over tournament host Vanderbilt to head into Sunday as the three seed.

In bracket play, a seven game slugfest saw Youngstown State just edge Maryville. That fate did not befall the Saints in their third-place match as they once again ousted Vanderbilt, winning 4-3 to claim third at the Music City Classic.
