ST. CHARLES, MO. – Adylan Ayer and Lindsey Schadewalt both scored 16 points apiece but the Maryville women's basketball team fell 64-60 to No. 3 seed Quincy in the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament Championship game. The Saints were playing in their first GLVC title game since 2014. Ayer and Gracie Stugart were named to the GLVC All-Tournament team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Tied at 8-8, Olivia Hahn entered the game and provided a spark off the bench. She hit a wing 3-pointer to put the Saints head and sprawled out on the floor for a steal that led to another 3-pointer, by Ayer, for a 14-8 lead. Maryville took a 14-9 advantage into the second quarter.

Ayer opened the second with a layup, and two at the line by Schadewalt put the Saints up 18-11. Ayer stayed hot and sank a triple for a 24-18 cushion. QU found the range from beyond the arc and closed the gap down to 26-24. Ayer again answered with a pull-up jumper and a 28-24 edge. Ayer closed the first half with 10 points to boost the offense. The Hawks trimmed the gap to one before Hahn drilled a 3-pointer for a 33-29 lead. Stugart scored on a drive and the Saints took a 35-29 lead into the break.

The Hawks opened the second half by scoring seven straight points to take the lead. Ayer again had the response as she hit back-to-back runners for a 39-36 lead four minutes into the third. Schadewalt flipped in a jumper and two at the line by Ayer. Claire Rake splashed in a wing 3-pointer as the Maryville margin grew to 46-37 with three minutes left in the third. QU made a late push and the Saints settled for a 46-43 heading into the final 10 minutes.

Quincy made a push in the fourth and tied the game at 46-all. Schadewalt hit a reverse layup that restored Maryville's lead at 48-46. The Hawks went back ahead by one point but the GLVC Freshman of the Year again had the answer and a 50-49 edge. The Hawks rallied with a mini run and snuck out to a 54-50 lead. Faith Hawthorne drilled consecutive triples to push the Saints ahead 56-54 with 4:38 to play.

Quincy finally went back in front 57-56 but Schadewalt knocked down a step-back jumper and a 58-57 lead. QU scored again for a 59-58 edge with 1:19 left. The Hawks grabbed two offensive rebounds and made one free throw with 26.9 ticks left for a 60-58 lead. However, they missed the second but again tracked down the offensive board with 19.2 seconds to play, and the Hawks sank one at the line. However, the Saints were charged with an offensive foul to give the Hawks the ball back. QU made two free throws with 9.6 seconds remaining for a 63-58 margin.
