ST. LOUIS - The Maryville men's team won its first Great Lakes Valley Conference match as the Saints cruised past Illinois Springfield 6-1 at Dwight Davis Tennis Center Saturday morning in Forest Park.
 
Lorenzo Biava and Markos Prentits took a 6-3 decision at the No. 1 doubles position. Juan Suero and Jack Quilty posted a 6-2 triumph in the second slot, while Michel Delaloye and Diego Alvarez won their match at No. 3 doubles via a walkover.
 
Biava recorded a matching 6-4, 6-4 win at the top singles slot, while Delaloye worked for a 6-3, 7-5 margin at No. 3. Suero prevailed at No. 4 by a 6-3, 7-5 score, while Prentits eased to a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 5. Alvarez won at the final singles by a forfeit for the final match score.
