Box Score ST. LOUIS – The wins just keep coming for Maryville baseball as it swept its second Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent in a row, defeating Southwest Baptist in game four 5-3 to earn the ninth straight win for the Saints.
The Saints used two bombs, one by
Dominic Sharp and one by
Josh Herget, both in the first inning to jump out to a lead they never relinquished.
Sam Cardwell and
Griffin King were electric out of the 'penn, tossing five innings of scoreless ball to find the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bearcats popped one off
Ryan Hoshaw in the first, with Sharp and Herget picking him up almost instantly in the bottom half to leave it 3-1.
Another Bearcat run came to pass in the second, with it taking until the fourth for a Maryville response.
Aaris Stolte's RBI single scored
Camden Ruby, with a throwing error on a stealing attempt allowing
Jace Burton to score to make it 5-2.
Tremayne Mungin plated one more off of Hoshaw in the fifth, finding the final score.
