INDIANAPOLIS – The Maryville softball team made a massive statement today in Indianapolis, sweeping the reigning NCAA Midwest Regional Champions in the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds in two games, both by a score of 8-1. The pair of wins also mark the first win the Saints have gotten over UIndy since
May 1 of 2021.
Jenna Kosnoff, with one swing of the bat, blew game one open in the fourth, capping off a seven-run fourth inning with a grand-slam. She was not the only Saint to go yard, with
Emily Corona sending out of Baumgartner Field in the sixth inning.
Â
It was offense by committee in game two as
Isabella Garcia and
Addison Koth both have 2 RBI games. Koth's runs came off a pair of doubles, while Corona hammered her second home run of the day.

GAME 1 | Maryville 8, UIndy 1
In her third appearance in the circle since coming back from injury,
Chayse Ramey was on her game against the Hounds. The grad-student went all seven, giving up just five hits on one run while sitting down nine UIndy batters on strikes.
Â
After the Hounds homered in the third off Ramey, the Saints answered back with a massive seven run fourth, with the first run coming off a
Kaitlyn Wagner single.
Marley Williamson and Corona both tallied RBIs after that to make it 3-1. The big blast came next as Kosnoff took a 0-1 fastball way deep to left center.
Â
Â
Now leading by six, Ramey shutdown the Greyhounds over the next four innings, with the Corona homer helping find the final score.
Â
GAME 2 | Maryville 8, UIndy 1
Just four batters into game two, the Saints already had a 1-0 lead, with a
Cora Boyle single in the next at-bat making it 2-0 after one inning.
Â
Crooked numbers continued to haunt the Hounds as Garcia and Koth grabbed back-to-back RBIs to make it 4-0. Poor pitching from the home team allowed both Garcia and Koth to come around and score on wild pitches.
Â
While the offense did their job, so did Boyle in the circle, tossing five scoreless innings, with just two hits and no walks. One blemish in the sixth was overshadowed by the Corona homer in the top half of the inning.
Â
The freshman pitcher ended game two with seven strikeouts, while moving to 10-6 on the year. It is the third-straight game where Boyle has snagged seven strikeouts.
