Baseball Drops Shortened Contest to UMSL, Sees Game Two Rained Out

Box Score ST. LOUIS – The regular season came to an unceremonious end for the Maryville baseball team, falling 4-0 in a five-inning, rain shorted contest to the University of Missouri-St. Louis Tritons. Despite all efforts by both squads a constant downpour of rain caused game two to be cancelled, seeing the Saints finish the 2025 regular season with a record of 29-20 with a 21-10 Great Lakes Valley Conference mark.

The Saints will now enter the GLVC Tournament on Wednesday in Marion, Ill. as the three seed looking to repeat the tournament champs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UMSL got on the board in the first in a game that started all the way at 10 a.m. They quickly made that lead a 4-0 in the third, but that is when the weather turned for the worst. A severe bout of rain on UMSLs campus moved it to back to Maryville's campus, but a window was hard to find.

Eventually the teams were able to pick it up nearly eight hours later, enough to get through the fifth inning for the game to be official.

UP NEXT
The Saints head up to Marion, Ill. at the Mtn Dew Park for the 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship Tournament. The Saints sit as the reigning GLVC title holders and will look to start their defense on May 7.
