ST. LOUIS – Maryville University M1 Hockey opened the 2025–26 season with a statement, starting 3–0 after a thrilling first week capped by a sold-out blackout game in front of more than 1,200 fans at the Maryville University Hockey Center.
WEDNESDAY: ROAD WIN TO OPEN SEASON
The Saints got things rolling on the road Wednesday night with a dominant 5–1 victory over McKendree. Maryville controlled play from start to finish and never looked back, outshooting the Bearcats 55-20, setting the tone for the weekend ahead.
FRIDAY: BLACK OUT, SOLD OUT!
Friday's home opener against Midland was nothing short of unforgettable for the Saints team. With a record-setting crowd of over 1,200 packing the Maryville Ice Hockey Center in Chesterfield, Mo., the atmosphere was electric from puck drop to final horn. The blackout game lived up to its billing—loud and energized.
The contest itself turned into a goaltending clinic, with both netminders stealing the spotlight. Maryville outshot the Midland Warriors 44–20, but senior forward Felix Turcotte delivered the game's only goal, lifting the Saints to a nail-biting 1–0 victory.
Maryville President Dr. Dan Shipp was in attendance, soaking in the energy of the crowd and even joining a student for an intermission game on the ice.
"It's incredible to see this kind of environment at Maryville. I'm excited for what this program can become," Shipp said.
SATURDAY: OFFENSIVE OUTBURST
The Saints carried momentum into Saturday's rematch with Midland and erupted for four goals in a seven-minute span during the second period, cruising to a 4–0 victory. Senior goaltender
Lucas Bain posted the shutout, while
Parker Sawka, who backstopped wins on Wednesday and Friday, anchored Maryville through the weekend.
