Saints Force Scoreless Draw in Season Opener

ST. LOUIS – Maryville men's soccer, in its season opener, played to a scoreless draw on Thursday afternoon versus the Cedarville Yellow Jackets. The defensive battle featured strong goalkeeping and physical play, with both teams combining for 35 fouls, while first time starting keeper Asgrimur Vidisson earned his first clean sheet, making three saves. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
The match opened with both teams testing each other's defenses but neither able to find the breakthrough. Cedarville outshot Maryville 14-8, though none found the target. 

Maryville's best scoring chance came from Sebastian Weitlaner, who had the lone shot on goal for the Saints, coming at the 18th minute.

The Maryville Saints will return to action Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, when they host the Roger State Hillcats at 11 a.m. at Maryville Soccer Field.
