INDIANAPOLIS – Playing its second straight ranked opponent, the Maryville University volleyball team hit the road at #24 Indianapolis. However, the Saints fell by set scores of 17-25, 25-16, 21-25, 11-25. The loss is the first defeat in league play for the Saints.
Natalie Frazier led the way with 11 kills, while
Ella Domian chipped in nine kills.
Mallory Sell finished with 16 digs to pace the defense.
Joanna Gillen recorded seven blocks on the night.

How it Happened
The Saints recorded 11 kills in set one but the Greyhounds notched a .341 hitting percentage to take the opening set. Maryville had its best hitting performance in the second and held UIndy to a -.031 mark. After the Greyhounds scored the first point, the Saints reeled off seven straight points.
Emma Keele started the run with a kill, and
Natalie Frazier followed with three consecutive kills. After a pair of UIndy miscues, Domian and
Leslie Longanbach put up a block for a 7-1 advantage. The lead stood at 9-4 until the Saints tacked on four straight points. A Keele kill put the lead at 13-4. The cushion grew to as much as 16-5 as the Saints cruised to a 25-16 win in the set.

The Saints trailed by as many as five points in set three before mounting a comeback. Domian and
Ellie Witthaus put down kills to start the push. After a Greyhounds error, Witthaus and
Tessa Arnott hammered down kills as the Saints got to within one. Following a block by Arnott and Gillen, Longanbach had a kill to forge a 16-16 tie. However, the Saints were unable to take the lead as UIndy held on for a 25-21 lead. In the final set, the Saints had their lowest hitting mark while the Greyhounds used an early run and hit .405 to close out the match. Gillen led the way defensively with seven blocks as the Saints recorded more blocks than UIndy.
