ROMEOVILLE, ILL. –
Emma Keele hammered down a season-high 20 kills but the Maryville University volleyball team dropped a five-set match at Lewis Saturday afternoon. The Flyers rallied to beat the Saints 25-18, 28-25, 20-25, 25-20, 15-11.
Emma Hoing and
Leslie Longanbach also both notched a season highs with 12 kills and 11 kills, respectively. Keele also nearly had a 20-20 match as she finished with a team-high 19 digs.

How it Happened
The Saints had their lowest hitting percentage as the Flyers took the first set. Maryville had a match-best 16 kills and had a .353 hitting mark to pull even in the match. Trailing 12-10, the Saints reeled off five straight points.
Cami Kohmetscher dropped in a kill, and Lewis committed two errors. Keele and
Ella Domian finished with consecutive kills for a 15-12 lead. Still up 16-14, the Saints took command with six unanswered points. Keele started the spree, as Taylor Landland continued to serve for Maryville. Following a Lewis error, Keele had another kill for a 21-14 lead as the Saints cruised to the win.

Leading the third set 16-14, the Saints edged ahead by scoring three of the next four points. Hoing put down a kill, and Longanbach tacked on a pair of kills for a 19-15 advantage. Lewis scored twice but the Saints responded with five straight points. Lewis committed a pair of errors, and an ace by
Mallory Sell and a kill by Keele made it 24-17 as the Saints eventually took a 2-1 set lead. The Saints kept up their hot hitting with a .324 kill percentage to move ahead in the match.

The Saints were looking to escape with a road win in the fourth set but the Flyers used an early 6-1 run to grab the lead. The Saints got as close as 14-11 after a Hoing ace and kill but Lewis scored five of the next six points and eventually forced a fifth set. Keele had a kill to trim Lewis' lead to 4-3 but the Flyers went up 6-3. The Saints scored a point before the Flyers went up 8-6. Hoing recorded a kill before Lewis tallied a pair of points to get to 11-7. Domian had a kill, Keele and
Hailey Levinson picked up a block before Keele's kill drew the Saints to 13-11. However, Lewis scored two straight to end the match and cap the rally for the win.
