ST. LOUIS – The Maryville volleyball team looked to hand Missouri-St. Louis its first league loss but the Tritons narrowly prevailed in five sets. UMSL won by set scores of 25-13, 23-25, 25-21, 16-25, 16-14.
Ella Domian paced the attack with 16 kills while hitting .438.
Natalie Frazier and
Emma Keele both finished with 11 kills apiece. Keele completed a double-double with 13 digs, while
Cami Kohmetscher handed out a career-high 36 assists.

How it Happened
In the fifth set, Domian tipped in a kill before the Tritons scored four straight. Keele and
Leslie Longanbach teamed up for a block to stop the UMSL run. The teams traded points before the Tritons pushed to a 9-4.
Joanna Gillen finished a kill but UMSL answered for a 10-5 lead. On the brink, the Saints stormed back with five straight points. Longanbach started the run with two straight kills. Frazier drilled down a point before Kohmetscher served back-to-back aces as the Saints drew level at 10-10. UMSL went back up 12-10 but the Saints tied the score at 13-all when
Emma Hoing hammered down a kill and Domian followed. UMSL went back on top 14-13 but Domian's kill forced a tie at 14-all to push the match to extra points. The Tritons had a kill and an ace to close out the thriller 16-14.

In the first set, UMSL hit .588 to take the lead but the Saints answered by winning set two. UMSL went back up 2-1 in sets prior to Maryville posting a .483 hitting percentage in the fourth to force the decisive set.
