SHREWSBURY, Mo. – The Maryville bowling team wrapped up its home tournament with an eighth-place finish on Sunday. The Saints went 5-5 through the first two days of action before posting a 2-1 mark in bracket play.
Sophomore
Elizabeth Teuber just missed out on All-Tournament Team honors, finishing seventh in a 102-bowler field while averaging a 226.
Prior to Sunday's bracket play, the Saints celebrated their lone senior,
Alexis Ingersoll, and honored last year's GLVC Championship team by welcoming program alumni back to Shrewsbury Lanes for the rings ceremony.
INS & OUTS
Friday's baker play started strong for the Saints, knocking off GLVC foe Quincy in the opening match, 1003-895. The momentum stalled from there, as Maryville dropped its next five matches to close the day.
The script flipped on Saturday during traditional play. A loss to Central Missouri opened the session, but the Saints rebounded with four straight wins to finish the day, highlighted by a victory over NCAA National Championship runner-up Nebraska.
In bracket play, Maryville defeated both Whitewater and UCM in short matches before falling in a seven-game battle with Wright State to close the tournament in eighth place.
