No. 5 Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Thomas More 27-2 in Record-Setting Contest

CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY.  – It was a record-setting day for the No. 5 Maryville men's lacrosse team in a dominating 27-2 win at Thomas More University. The Saints set school marks for goals in a game and largest margin of victory. Wyatt Robertson led the way with five goals and two assists as 19 different players tallied at least one goal. Evan Alfano made three saves and blanked TMU in the first half to pick up the win in the cage.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Brenden Bloedel opened the scoring just 26 seconds into the game as the Saints tallied eight goals in the first quarter. Arley Wasson doubled the Maryville lead before Trent Zimay and Ben Mickett found the back of the net. George Tocko made it 5-0, and Robertson scored his first of the day. Colin Tobias and Chris Anderson converted goals to make it 8-0 after just 15 minutes.
 
Luke Chorlton scored in the first minute of the second quarter before Robertson erupted for a natural haul en route to four consecutive goals. Chris Anderson and Caiden Moon tallied in the waning minute as the Saints took a 15-0 lead into halftime.
 
Hunter Hemphill and Griffin Johnson extended the lead to 17-0 before Thomas More finally scored at the 5:58 mark of the third quarter. Maryville scored four more times to build a 21-1 entering the final 15 minutes. Maryville pushed across the final six goals to cap the record-breaking performance. The 27 goals surpass the previous mark of 26 scored at Shorter March 5, 2022. The 25-goal margin of victory topped the record of 21 set in the same game at Shorter.
