ST. LOUIS – Despite 34 points from
Evan Palmquist, the Maryville men's basketball team was not able to rally as Quincy held on for a 93-85 win. Palmquist's total is tied for the eighth highest total in a game and the most posts scored since Owen Long finished with 35 points at Quincy Jan. 14, 2021.
Henry Sanchez added 20 points, while
Noah Courtney added 12 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints were down 53-38 early in the second half before mounting a big rally.
Noah Courtney scored on a layup before Palmquist converted a drive. After another layup by Courtney,
Kobe Clark scored to cut the gap to 53-46. After a pair of QU free throws,
Henry Sanchez drained a deep 3-pointer and a Palmquist layup drew the Saints to 55-51 with 12 minutes to play.
Â
The Hawks answered with 10 straight to keep the Saints at a distance. The Saints scored six of the next seven points to get the gap down to single digits. Sanchez sank two free throws before Courtney drilled a long jumper and hit on a layup to trim the deficit to 66-57. Sanchez converted consecutive jumpers as the Saints got as close at 69-61. However, Maryville never got any closer. The Saints shot 94.4 percent from the free-throw line (17-of-18), to tie for the fourth best mark in program history.
