ST. LOUIS – The Big Red M took on the Big Red Invite this weekend as the Maryville bowling team placed fourth at the University of Nebraska hosted invite. Maryville posted an 8-5 mark in baker and traditional action, before falling in two matches of bracket play.

In Baker action, Maryville went 3-2, highlighted by wins over Western Illinois, Nebraska and McKendree. The Saints' 1,079 performance against Nebraska marked one of their strongest team efforts of the weekend.

The Saints found their stride in traditional competition, going 5-1 on Saturday behind balanced scoring throughout the lineup. Maryville opened the day with wins over Quincy and Youngstown State before bouncing back from its lone loss to Sam Houston State with statement victories over national powers Wichita State, Vanderbilt and Arkansas State.

Elizabeth Teuber paced the Saints individually, finishing sixth overall with a 1,322 total and a 220.33 average across six games.
Morgan Brunner also turned in a strong showing, averaging over 212, while
Alexis Ingersoll and
Caitlyn Johnson each surpassed the 1,140-pin mark in traditional play.

Entering bracket play as the No. 4 seed, Maryville faced top-seeded Jacksonville State in the opening round. The Saints were edged by the Gamecocks before falling to Nebraska in the consolation bracket to finish fourth overall in a loaded 12-team field that featured multiple nationally ranked programs.

Maryville totaled 13,653 pins across 68 games with a 200.8 average for the tournament.
