ST. LOUIS –
Connor Kvaal fired in the game-winning goal 58 seconds into overtime as the No. 7 Maryville men's lacrosse team took down No. 15 Saint Leo 12-11.
Eli Wingbermuehle paced the Saints attack with a career-high four goals, while
Colin Tobias notched a pair of goals and an assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints tallied the first three goals of the game to grab the early momentum. Wingbermuehle opened the scoring just over five minutes in, and
Arley Wasson doubled the Maryville lead. Tobias tallied midway through the quarter for the 3-0 advantage. SLU scored but
Caiden Moon answered for the Saints. Tobias scored with 14 seconds left but SLU pulled one goal back at the buzzer to make it 5-3 for the Saints.
Jack Tocko recorded a player-up goal but the Lions added a goal. Wingbermuehle tallied just before halftime for an 8-5 Maryville lead.

Luke Chorlton scored the first goal of the third quarter as the Saints grabbed a four-goal margin. The Lions tallied the next two until Tocko made it 10-7. SLU had the last score in the third to cut into the Maryville margin. The defenses took over as neither offense scored for more than 10 minutes. The Lions pulled to within one but Wingbermuehle tallied for an 11-9 lead with 3:29 to play. However, the Lions scored twice in the waning minutes to force overtime.

The Saints drew a penalty in the final seconds of regulation and started the extra session with the ball. Maryville had two shots but were unable to score. SLU cleared the ball but then committed a turnover. Kvaal took possession, sprinted down the center of the field, and rocketed a shot below the bar for the game winner.
