Robertson Tallies Six Goals but No. 19 Rollins Rallies Past Saints

ST. LOUIS – The Maryville men's lacrosse team grabbed an early lead but No. 19 Rollins rallied in the second half to topple the Saints 11-9 on a cold and windy afternoon. Wyatt Robertson tied his season high with six goals. The Saints had their nine-game home winning streak come to an end.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Robertson opened the game with a natural hat trick to give the Saints offense an early charge. He scored at the 9:23 mark of the opening quarter and tacked on a second with 7:43 left in the frame. Just over a minute later, Robertson completed his hat trick with 6:31 still left in the first. Ben Mickett pushed the Maryville margin to 4-0. The Tars finally got on the scoreboard to make it 4-1. It was Rollins' turn to go on a run as it opened the second quarter with five straight to build a 6-5 advantage. Trent Zimay found the back of the net as the Saints closed the gap to 6-5 at the break.

Maryville jumped back in front early in the third quarter. After a Rollins turnover, Colin Tobias picked up the ball and fed Robertson to tie the game. Later, Robertson picked up a rebound and deposited the ball into the net as Maryville retook a 7-6 lead. However, the Tars scored two straight to end the third and carried the momentum into the fourth by tallying three more times. The Saints tried to rally as Tobias netted a goal, and Robertson scored after a scramble. Maryville forced a turnover and nearly scored again but a shot hit the post, and the Saints were unable to pull to within one in the final seconds.
