FAYETTE, Iowa. – The Maryville baseball team continued its perfect start in Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Saturday, sweeping Upper Iowa by scores of 9-4 and 10-5.

With the wins, the Saints move to 13-10 overall and 7-0 in GLVC action, using a combination of explosive early offense and timely pitching to secure the sweep.Â

GAME 1 | Maryville 9, Upper Iowa 4
Maryville wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for seven runs across the first two innings to take control early.

After Upper Iowa answered a four-run first with four of its own, the Saints responded immediately in the second. Capitalizing on an error, Maryville plated three runs in the frame, highlighted by a three-RBI double from
Brady Kindhart to make it 7-4.

The Saints added insurance in the third inning when
Jack Meyer launched a two-run home run, extending the lead to 9-4.

On the mound,
Ryan Hoshaw settled in after the opening frame, tossing five innings with six strikeouts to earn the win.
Blake Sivak shut the door out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit over the final two innings.

Offensively, Kindhart led the way with three RBIs, while
Steven Schneider added two RBIs and two runs scored.

GAME 2 | Maryville 10, Upper Iowa 5
The Saints followed up with another strong offensive showing in game two, using a six-run sixth inning to break things open.

After trading runs early and holding a 4-1 lead through five innings, Maryville capitalized on control issues from Upper Iowa pitching in the sixth. The Saints scored four runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-RBI double from
Dominic Sharp, pushing the advantage to 8-1.

Sharp continued his big day in the seventh, blasting a two-run home run to extend the lead to 10-3 and put the game out of reach.

On the mound,
Brayden Rubel earned the win with six innings of work, allowing three runs while striking out four.
Collin Greiner closed things out despite a late push from the Peacocks.

Sharp powered the offense with four RBIs on the day, while
Justin Gorski and
Steven Schneider each added RBI contributions.
