BOLINGBROOK, ILL. – The Maryville women's golf team won the rain-shortened Flyer Spring Invitational hosted at Bolingbrook Country Club. Over 27 holes, the Saints posted team scores of 307-151=458 to hold off host Lewis University by four shots in a field of 13 teams.
Kelly Wang and
Fernanda Diaz-Pizarro both tied for second place overall. Wang shot 74-40=114, while Diaz-Pizarro came home at 77-37.
Wang had two birdies in round one and was steady over the final nine holes with six pars. Diaz-Pizarro carded three birdies in round one and tacked on another on her final side of the tourney. Just one shot back were
Kylie Yiengst and
Maddie Vanderheyden who both carded identical rounds of 78-37=115.
Chloe Fong posted at 84-40=124 for the squad. Elaine Grant of Illinois Springfield won first place individual honors at 110 to hold off four players for the title.

The tournament crown is the second of the season for the Saints, who also finished first at the Bill Crabtree Invitational at The Pearl Club in Owensboro, Ky.

The Saints finish the regular season with their shortest tournament trip of the year at the UMSL Spring Invitational April 12-13 at Norwood Hills Country Club in north St. Louis.
