ST. LOUIS – The Maryville men's volleyball team made it a weekend two-match sweep of Southwest Baptist 25-16, 26-24, 25-18.
Makai Scott led the way again versus the Bearcats with 14 kills, and
Aidan Whitemountain had seven kills while hitting .438. The victory extends Maryville's win streak to seven straight.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Down 11-10, the Saints reeled off six straight points to surge ahead. After an SBU error,
Luke Martinez served an ace to start the run.
AJ Robateau added two kills and he teamed with Scott for a block to make it 16-11. Maryville later used a 6-1 spree to break it open and take a 1-0 lead. Maryville's defense held SBU to a -.091 hitting percentage.

Set two was a close battle and the Saints inched ahead at 21-19 on an SBU error. The teams traded points before the Bearcats went ahead 23-22. The Saints tied the score at 23-all but SBU retook the lead. However, the Saints saved a set point at 24-24 and went up 25-24. Robateau finished off the set by hammering home a kill at 26-24.

Maryville recorded its best hitting percentage at .438 to pull away in the third set. The Saints led narrowly for most of the proceedings and grabbed a 14-9 advantage. It was still 19-17 before Maryville closed with a rush.
Makai Nzioki and
Tristan Benbow had a block and Scott notched a kill. After an SBU point, the Saints tallied the final four to end the match. Scott had a kill, and SBU committed a miscue. Nzioki's kill made it match point, and Benbow drilled down a kill to end it at 25-18.
