TOPEKA, Kan. – The No. 21-ranked Maryville women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss to the No. 4 Washburn Ichabods at Yager Stadium in Topeka, Kan., on Thursday evening.
Washburn scored once in the first half before rattling off three goals in the second half, all within a 10-minute span.
Maryville amassed 10 shots in the second half but was unable to find the back of the net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Just two minutes into the contest, the Saints were called for a handball in the box, giving the Ichabods a prime opportunity that they buried into the bottom left corner of the net.
Maryville kept the stout Ichabods attack off the scoreboard for the remainder of the half but was unable to summon much offense of its own.
Washburn struck quickly in the second half, scoring three times before the 64th minute.
Helene Braren led the Saints with three shots, all on goal.
