ST. LOUIS – Hailey Scheuer scored her first goal of the season to pull Maryville even in the second half, but McKendree converted a penalty kick in the 89th minute to hand the Saints a 2-1 loss Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
McKendree took the lead in the 15th minute after generating the first two shots on goal of the match. Maryville had two shots in the opening half but went into the break trailing 1-0.
The Saints came out on the attack in the second half, taking two shots and earning a corner kick in the opening two minutes. At 50:51, Scheuer finished a chance assisted by
Carissa Speight to tie the match.
Maryville kept the pressure on, putting two more shots on goal before the 63rd minute. The score remained level until McKendree earned a penalty kick at 88:42 and converted it for the winner.
