FAYETTE, Iowa – Eight different Saints scored Wednesday as Maryville women's soccer rolled past Upper Iowa 8-0 at Harms-Eischeid Stadium.
The eight goals ties a program record from the Saints for goals in an NCAA Division II match. The eight different goal scorers set the program record for most in an NCAA DII match as well.
Maryville held the Peacocks without a shot while piling up 38 attempts of its own. The Saints played 20 different players in the match, with 10 different players recording a shot.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Hailey Scheuer opened the scoring in the 25th minute off an assist from
Izzy Oldroyd.
Sophia Carter doubled the lead five minutes later, and
Carissa Speight and
Ava Ernst struck late in the half to send the Saints into the break ahead 4-0.
Maryville kept pressing after halftime.
Gabby Tucker scored in the 48th minute, Oldroyd added an unassisted goal in the 65th, and
Lucy Cooper and
Emily Doane completed the scoring in the 68th and 76th minutes.
Isabella Lobley assisted on three goals, while Speight finished with a goal and two assists. Oldroyd added a goal and an assist.
Agnes Vilen and
Sophia Sulawske each played 45 minutes in the shutout.
It was the first goal of the season for Speight, while it was the first of their career for Tucker, Oldroyd and Cooper.
