MARYVILLE, Mo. – Kelsey Wentland scored her third goal in two games as the Maryville women's soccer team battled Northwest Missouri State to a 1-1 draw on Thursday evening.
After conceding the opening goal, the Saints responded in the 33rd minute when Wentland found the back of the net for the equalizer. Maryville controlled much of the second half, outshooting the Bearcats 9-4 and putting six attempts on goal, but could not break the deadlock.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Northwest Missouri State opened the scoring in the 16th minute with an unassisted goal, marking the third straight game where the Saints gave up the first goal.
Maryville answered at the 32:03 mark. Wentland provided the equalizer with an unassisted score of her own, having scored the Saints last three goals herself.
The Saints increased the pressure after halftime, forcing six saves from the Bearcats' goalkeeper.

Allison Estanich each put early second-half attempts on frame before
Hailey Scheuer was denied in the 74th minute.
Helene Braren and Estanich generated two more shots on goal late in the contest. Wentland nearly delivered the game-winner in the final minute, but her attempt was saved.
