Men's Basketball Puts Two-Game Win Streak on the Line

THIS WEEK
Riding the wave of a two-game winning streak, the Saints (11-10 overall, 4-9 GLVC) continue a home stand with two games at Moloney Arena. Maryville hosts Drury Thursday, Feb. 9, in a 7:30 p.m. contest. The Saints take on Missouri S&T Saturday, Feb. 11, with a 3:15 p.m. tip.
 
ABOUT DRURY
The Panthers are 13-8 overall, 7-6 in the league and have won four straight. Alex Hall and Brandon Lockhart lead the attack with 15.0 ppg and 13.0 ppg, respectively. The duo has combined for 158 assists. Ian Carter leads Drury in rebounding at 4.9 per game. The Panthers score 75.9 ppg and give up 67.4 ppg. Drury won the first meeting between the teams Dec. 3, in Springfield.
 
ABOUT MISSOURI S&T
The Miners are 3-18 overall, 2-11 in the league and play at UMSL before arriving at Moloney Arena. Tommy Pelczynski leads the team with 10.8 ppg and adds 4.5 rpg, while Bryce Foster contributes 10.1 ppg and 4.0 rpg. Michael Jackson grabs a team best 5.7 rpg. The Miners average 58.8 ppg and surrender 72.0 ppg. The Saints won the first contest 66-62 in the GLVC opener Dec. 1 in Rolla.
 
MORE ON MARYVILLE
Sophomore Asa Toney leads the Saints in scoring at 12.2 ppg, is second on the team with 53 assists and 30 steals. Junior Gerald Shaw is second on the team with 10.6 ppg and has a team-high 47 3-pointers. Junior Ryan Shotkoski tops the team with 56 assists and is second with 27 steals. In the last NCAA report (Feb. 5), Maryville is 22nd in the country in 3-point field goals made with 8.5 per game and 23rd in scoring defense at 62.1. Head coach Kevin Carroll is in his second year at Maryville and has compiled an 18-29 overall record.

RECAPPING OAKLAND CITY
The Saints scored a season-high 84 points and downed Oakland City 84-49 Monday in nonconference action. Gerald Shaw led four players in double figures with 14. Asa Toney had a strong all-around game with nine points, a career-high eight assists and six rebounds.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
The Saints close out a four-game home stand with Senior Day Thursday, Feb. 16, in a 7:30 p.m. game against Illinois-Springfield. Senior Jacob Dulle and Ryan Shotkoski, who will be graduating this year, will be honored just prior to the game. The Saints head to Quincy Saturday, Feb. 18 for a 3:15 p.m. contest.
