THIS WEEK:
The Maryville women’s soccer team begins a three-game homestand Wednesday, Sept. 19, with a makeup game against McKendree. The Great Lakes Valley Conference game originally began Sept. 7, but was canceled at halftime due to weather. The Saints return home Friday, Sept. 21, in a 4:30 p.m. game versus William Jewell. Maryville hosts Rockhurst Sunday, Sept. 23, in a noon contest.
MORE ON MARYVILLE:
The Saints are 2-4, 1-2 in the GLVC.
Jen Jung and
Sam Poteet pace the Saints with two goals apiece as five different players have found the back of the net.
Hana McGinis has a team-high three assists.
Jena Casagrande has two wins in the nets and has a 1.48 GAA, while
Mandy Browning has amassed 20 saves in 270 minutes of play.
ABOUT McKENDREE:
The Bearcats are 3-1 overall, 2-1 in their inaugural season in the GLVC. Alyssa Patterson leads the team with two goals and two assists for six points, while Carlee Luehmann has notched three assists. Maggie Dudas has played every minute in goal and has a 1.25 GAA.
ABOUT WILLIAM JEWELL:
The Cardinals are 4-1 overall, 3-1 in the league and have a 2-0 mark in road contests. Sarah Franklin leads the team with five goals and four assists for 14 points, while Ashley Licata has four goals and five assists. William Jewell is the highest scoring team in the conference at 3.20 goals per game.
ABOUT ROCKHURST:
The Hawks (5-0, 4-0 GLVC) are the top defensive team in the GLVC and have only surrendered two scores all year. In addition, Rockhurst is the second highest scoring team in the league with 2.80 goals per contest. Brandi Van Booven and Taylor Skala top Rockhurst with three goals apiece, and Kasey Lierz has a team-high four assists. Lucy Sullivan has played every minute in goal and has made 17 saves this season.
RECAPPING LAST WEEK:
The Saints registered a 2-1 victory at Kentucky Wesleyan Friday night. After KWC had tied the game in the second half,
Sam Poteet struck for the game winner. In Evansville, Ind.,
Shannon Foley put the Saints ahead 1-0 early in the second half, but USI rallied to pull away for the win.
Abby Juhlin scored late for Maryville.
LOOKING AHEAD:
The Saints venture back on the road Friday, Sept. 28, for a 5 p.m. game at Drury. Maryville continues the away schedule with a Noon contest in Rolla, Mo., at Missouri S&T.
