Saints Host Drury for Mania Night; Missouri S&T Visits Saturday

THIS WEEK
Maryville (8-7, 4-3) returns home Thursday, Jan. 24, when they host Drury at 5:15 pm for the annual “Mania Night” celebration. This year’s theme is “Rock of Ages”, and all fans are encouraged to come to the games dressed as their favorite rock star or rock band. After the doubleheader of games, a Mania Dance will be held in CSE at 9:30 p.m. The Saints host Missouri S&T Saturday, Jan. 26, in a 1 p.m. game.

ABOUT DRURY
The Panthers are 8-7 overall, 2-5 in the GLVC. Bethanie Funderburk is third in the conference in scoring at 16.7 ppg and hits 86.6 percent from the line. Abby Bracker leads Drury with 6.5 rebounds per game. Drury leads the league in free throw shooting at 78.3 percent.
 
ABOUT MISSOURI S&T
The Miners sit atop the GLVC West Division with a 6-1 record and are 10-5 overall. Hailee Parks is fifth in the league with a 16.3 scoring average, tied for sixth in rebounding at 8.3, and is second in field goal percentage at 57.6. Kyesha Hall is second in the conference with 2.7 steals per game. Deep threat Toni Knar has made 40 3-pointers and is shooting 44.4 percent from beyond the arc.

LAST WEEK
Abby Duethman tied a career-high 27 points as the Saints saw a late rally fall short 72-64 at William Jewell. Maryville bounced back as Kate Childs scored 16 points in a 72-58 win at Rockhurst.

MORE ON MARYVILLE
The Saints return their top 11 players from a squad that posted a 19-12 overall mark, 11-7 in the league last season and won the GLVC Tournament. Senior forward Abby Duethman is nearly averaging a double-double with 17.2 ppg and leads the GLVC with 9.6 rpg. Brittnye McSparron is second on the team with 11.5 ppg, and GLVC Freshman of the Year and GLVC Tournament MVP sophomore guard Shelby Miller has hit 27 3-pointers and is averaging 10.0 ppg The Saints are second in the league in scoring margin at +12.9 and in turnover margin at +5.4
 
CLEANING THE GLASS
Abby Duethman has moved into third place on the all-time rebounding list with 550. She became just the fourth Saint to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds in a career. The only other Saints to reach those milestones are Julie Kellogg, Kim Lesley and Carrie Snyder. Ahead of Duethman in second place is Kim Lesley at 585 rebounds. The school record of 616 is held by Julie Kellogg.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Saints close out a three-game home stand Thursday, Jan. 31, when they take on Illinois Springfield. Maryville heads out on the road Saturday, Feb. 2, as they challenge Quincy.
