THIS WEEK: The Maryville men’s basketball team (16-5, 6-3) has a split week with one home game and one road contest. The Saints host Illinois Springfield Thursday, Jan. 31, in a 7:30 p.m. contest. Maryville heads to Quincy Saturday, Feb. 2, in a 3:15 p.m. game.
ABOUT ILLIINOIS SPRINGFIELD: The Prairie Stars are 5-12 overall, 3-6 in the GLVC. Kyle Gupton leads the team with 12.8 ppg but is averaging 14.8 ppg in league play. Dylan Sparkman adds 10.9 ppg and 5.5 rpg, while West Dawson snares a team-leading 7.4 rpg to go along with 43 assists.
ABOUT QUINCY: The Hawks are 8-9 overall, 3-6 in the conference. The duo of Chris Babbitt and Tyler Thompson lead Quincy with 14.4 and 13.9 points per game, respectively. Babbitt also tops the team with 5.4 rebounds per contest. The Hawks are second in the GLVC in free throw percentage at 76.3 percent.
MORE ON MARYVILLE: The Saints are 16-5, 6-3 in the GLVC and are one game back in the GLVC West Division. Asa Toney leads the team with 15.0 ppg, 83 assists and 35 steals. Armon Provo is second on the squad with a 13.0 scoring average and is second on the team with 65 assists and third in steals with 28. Lone senior Gerald Shaw adds 10.3 ppg. Trae Pemberton ranks fourth in the GLVC in 3-point field goal percentage at .467. Head coach Kevin Carroll is in his third year at Maryville and has compiled a 36-38 overall record.
LAST WEEK: The Saints had their four-game GLVC winning streak come to an end in a loss to Drury. Armon Provo tied a school record with an 88.9 percent (8-of-9) shooting performance as Maryville moved by Missouri S&T 78-57.

Armon Provo set a school record for shooting percentage in a game when he hit 88.9 percent (8-of-9) in the game versus Missouri S&T Jan. 26. Provo tied the mark first set by Ben Koopman Jan. 28, 2009, against Principia.
