On a three-game winning streak, the Maryville women’s basketball squad (10-7, 6-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference) hosts Illinois Springfield Thursday, Jan. 31, in a 5:15 p.m. game. The Saints head out on the road Saturday, Feb. 2, as they challenge Quincy.
ABOUT ILLINOIS SPRINGFIELD
The Prairie Stars stand at 5-12 overall, 2-7 in the GLVC. Megan Bergerud leads UIS at 12.5 ppg and has 31 steals on the year. Alyssa Palmer has recorded 55 assists, and Elizabeth Kelly averages a team-high 6.8 rebounds.
ABOUT QUINCY
The Lady Hawks are tied for the GLVC West Division lead with a 7-2 mark and are 9-8 overall. Kelly Buresh leads the way with 12.0 points per game and adds 5.3 rebounds. Lucy Cramsey also averages 12.0 ppg, is sixth in the GLVC in rebounding at 7.9 and hands out a team-high 54 assists. The Hawks are second in the league in free throw shooting at 76.1 percent.

LAST WEEK
For the second time in three games, Abby Duethman tied a career-high 27 points as the Saints defeated Drury 65-53. Maryville never trailed in a 56-39 win over Missouri S&T, the third straight victory for the Saints. The triumph was the 200th career win for head coach Chris Ellis at the University.

The Saints return their top 11 players from a squad that posted a 19-12 overall mark, 11-7 in the league last season and won the GLVC Tournament. Senior forward
Abby Duethman is nearly averaging a double-double with a league-high 17.2 ppg and is tied for the GLVC lead with 9.6 rpg.
Brittnye McSparron is second on the team with 11.6 ppg, and GLVC Freshman of the Year and GLVC Tournament MVP sophomore guard
Shelby Miller has hit 30 3-pointers and is averaging 9.8 ppg The Saints are second in the league in turnover margin at +5.4 and rank 22nd nationally. Maryville is 19th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.06-to-1.
CLEANING THE GLASS
Abby Duethman has moved into third place on the all-time rebounding list with 568. She became just the fourth Saint to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds in a career. The only other Saints to reach those milestones are Julie Kellogg, Kim Lesley and Carrie Snyder. Ahead of Duethman in second place is Kim Lesley at 585 rebounds. The school record of 616 is held by Julie Kellogg.
