The Maryville defense held Cedarville without a point in overtime as the Saints posted a 68-62 victory in the final non-conference game of the season for Maryville. The win pushes the Saints to 6-3 overall.

The Saints led 62-59 in the waning moments of regulation but Cedarville's Brian Grant completed a three-point play with 7.5 seconds to play to force a 62-62 tie. Maryville pushed the ball up the court but misfired on a 3-pointer as the contest moved into overtime.

Neither team scored on its first two possessions of the extra session until
Asa Toney powered down the lane for a bucket and two-point lead. The Yellow Jackets committed a turnover on their next possession, and Toney found
Trae Pemberton for a layup and a 66-62 lead. Cedarville hurt itself with another miscue but the Saints were unable to build on their lead. With nine seconds left,
Armon Provo sealed the victory with two free throws and the final six-point margin.

In the overtime session, the Saints forced Cedarville into missing all five field goals, and the Jackets committed three turnovers. Provo paced the Saints with 19 points and hit 5-of-10 from 3-point range. Toney and Pemberton both chipped in 11 points apiece. Toney, who had seven assists, and Myles Jerrett tied for the team lead with eight rebounds. Lane Vander Hulst paced Cedarville with 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting. The Jackets, who have played two Division I teams as well as two ranked DII teams, fall to 1-10.

The Saints are next in action Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, when they play at Illinois Springfield. Maryville returns home Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, as Lewis comes to Moloney Arena.
