Women's Basketball Travels to UIS; Welcome Quincy Saturday

THIS WEEK
The Maryville women’s basketball squad (14-9, 10-5 Great Lakes Valley Conference) plays its final road game of the season when the Saints travel to Illinois Springfield Thursday for a 5:15 pm game. Maryville returns home Saturday, Feb. 23, to host Quincy in 1 p.m. game. The department of athletics announced that it will donate all ticket revenue from the Quincy doubleheader to a Maryville University student in the Rehab Counseling program whose family lost everything in a recent home fire.

ABOUT ILLINOIS SPRINGFIELD
The Prairie Stars are 5-18 overall, 2-13 in the GLVC. Megan Bergerud leads UIS at 12.9 ppg and has 34 steals on the year. Alyssa Palmer has handed out 72 assists, and Elizabeth Kelly pulls down a team-high 7.9 rebounds.
 
ABOUT QUINCY
The Lady Hawks lead the GLVC West Division at 11-4 and are 13-10 overall. Lucy Cramsey averages a team-high 11.9 ppg, is fourth in the GLVC in rebounding at 8.0 and hands out a team-high 71 assists. Kelly Buresh adds 11.7 points per game and contributes 5.2 rebounds. The Lady Hawks lead the league in rebounding margin at +7.4

LAST WEEK
Shelby Miller hit five 3-pointers and finished with 20 points to lead the Saints past Rockhurst 67-51. Brittnye McSparron added 14 points, while Erica Lorton snared eight rebounds. Maryville had the potential game-tying 3-pointer bounce away as William Jewell slipped past the Saints 62-59. McSparron tied her career best with 20, while Samantha Robison scored a career-high 17 points and completed a double-double with 11 rebounds.

MORE ON MARYVILLE
Senior guard Brittnye McSparron leads the team with 11.6 ppg along with 53 assists. Sophomore guard Shelby Miller has hit 51 3-pointers and is averaging 11.3 ppg. The Saints are second in the league in scoring defense at 57.2 ppg, field goal percentage defense at .361, third in steals at 10.3 and turnover margin at +3.83.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Saints play their final regular-season game Thursday, Feb. 28, as crosstown rival Missouri-St. Louis visits Moloney Arena. Seniors Kate Childs, Abby Duethman, Brittnye McSparron, Angela Pepowski and Kayla Person will be honored before the game.
