THIS WEEK: The Maryville men’s basketball team (18-5, 8-3) closes out a three-game road trip with tilts at Missouri S&T Thursday, Feb. 7, and at Drury Saturday, Feb. 9. The next Saints victory will be the 19th of the season, the most since the 1978-79 squad set the program record with 21 wins.
ABOUT MISSOURI S&T: The Miners are 6-12 overall, 2-9 in the GLVC. Mudi Eruteya leads the Miners in scoring at 13.2 ppg, is second in the GLVC in rebounding at 8.4 per game and has a team-high 66 assists. Nasrath Khan averages 11.1 ppg to rank second on the squad. The Miners are third in the league in 3-point field goal defense and fourth in rebounding margin at +5.4. The Saints won the first meeting 78-57 Jan 26 in St. Louis.
ABOUT DRURY: The Panthers lead the GLVC West Division with a 9-2 mark and are 15-4 overall. Drury is tops in the league in both scoring (81.8 ppg) and defense (61.6 ppg), as well as in 3-point field goal percentage at 42.0. The Panthers also top the conference in assists (19.9) and steals (10.9) per game. Alex Hall is sixth in the GLVC with 16.4 ppg, and Ian Carter leads the team with 5.8 rpg. Brandon Lockhart leads the conference with 6.0 assists per game and steals at 3.3 an outing. The Panthers took the first game between the schools Jan. 24.
MORE ON MARYVILLE: The Saints are 18-5, 8-3 in the GLVC and are one game back in the GLVC West Division. Asa Toney leads the team with 14.8 ppg, 95 assists and 39 steals. Armon Provo is second on the squad with a 12.7 scoring average and is second on the team with 71 assists and third in steals with 31. Lone senior Gerald Shaw adds 10.9 ppg. Trae Pemberton ranks fourth in the GLVC in 3-point field goal percentage at .469. The Saints are second in the GLVC and 25th in the nation in scoring defense at 62.5 points per game. Head coach Kevin Carroll is in his third year at Maryville and has compiled a 38-38 overall record.
LAST WEEK: Gerald Shaw led four Saints in double figures with 16 points as Maryville glided past Illinois Springfield 70-52. The Saints hit nine 3-pointers in the first half en route to a 70-61 triumph at Quincy. Shaw and Asa Toney both finished with 15 points apiece.

The Saints have already recorded their 18th win of the season, tied for the second most in program history. The 1997-98, 1998-99 and 2005-06 teams also posted 18 victories. The school record for wins in a season is 21 by the 1978-79 squad.
