The Maryville baseball team travels to Springfield, Mo., to take on Drury with the Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division lead on the line. The Saints, Panthers and Quincy are all tied at the top of the division with 5-1 records. Maryville and Drury start the four-game series 3:30 Friday at Meador Park. The squads meet again Saturday for two more games beginning at noon.
The Saints are 6-8 overall and took three of four games against traditional East Division power Indianapolis last weekend at Weber Field. For the first time in program history, the Saints won five straight games to open conference play.
Eric Keling leads the Saints in hitting at .379, while
Colby White has driven in a team-high nine runs.
Corey Gall tops Maryville with nine runs scored.
Jared Green has drawn 10 walks and leads the way with a .511 on-base percentage.
Patrick Jacobs totes a 3.20 ERA and is tied with
Matt Staback with two wins apiece.
Brett Grempler leads the staff with 17 strikeouts.
Brett Neill leads the Panthers with a .367 batting average, and Matt Borgschulte has driven in 13 runs. Jonathan McCann leads the team with a 1.54 ERA in 23.1 innings of action.
