Volleyball Splits Pair of Matches in Springfield, Illinois

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The volleyball team had a busy day in Springfield, Ill., as it defeated Benedictine University 3-1 before getting edged 3-0 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action at Illinois Springfield. The Saints defeated the Bulldogs 25-14, 25-17, 21-25, 25-12, but lost 28-26, 27-25, 25-18 to the Prairie Stars.
 
Against Benedictine, the Saints defense led the way as they limited the Bulldogs to just a .085 hitting percentage. Making their way over to UIS, the Saints battled but dropped the first two sets in extras before the Prairie Stars closed out the win in set three. Demi Maniaci topped the Saints with eight kills, while Mikaela Lahm chipped in seven kills and a team-high five blocks. Ali Lampen posted 19 digs to lead Maryville, while Hannah Seitter and Taryn Trubich both handed out 15 assists.
 
The Saints are now 5-7 overall, 0-2 in the GLVC. Maryville returns to the court Sunday as it makes the trek over to Lebanon, Ill., to face McKendree.
