St. Louis - Visiting Wisconsin-Parkside shot 57.7 percent from the field to snap Maryville's four-game winning streak Saturday afternoon at Moloney Arena 84-63. Asa Toney led the Saints with 18 points but was not enough to offset a double-double by UWP's Zygimantas Riauka who finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds.

The Rangers scored the first five points of the game before Armon Provo drained a 3-pointer. UWP answered with six straight points to build an 11-3 edge. Melvin Turner converted a 3-pointer from the left side, and Darrin Young Jr. had a steal and layup to pull the Saints to within three at 11-8. Another hoop by Young cut Maryville's deficit to 13-10 but the Rangers reeled off 12 straight points to surge ahead. Trailing by 19, the Saints used a 6-1 spurt to cut the gap. Toney threw down a dunk, and after one UWP free throw, he scored again in traffic down the lane. Harrison DuPont hit a jumper near the free-throw line to pull the Saints to 35-21 with three minutes left in the first half. The Rangers settled for a 15-point lead at halftime.

The Rangers started the second half with five straight points before Myles Jerrett scored on a layup. UWP pushed the lead back over 20 points and held that advantage for most of the second half. Toney and Provo scored back-to-back layups with five minutes to go but the 71-55 deficit would be as close as the Saints would get.

In addition to his team-high 18 points, Toney led Maryville with eight rebounds. Turner hit all five of his shots, including 4-of-4 from 3-point range, and added a career-best 14 points, while Provo chipped in 13 points. The Rangers stay unbeaten in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and are 11-2 overall, 4-0 in the conference.

The Saints slip to 8-4 overall, 2-2 in the league. Maryville continues a four-game GLVC homestand Thursday, Jan. 16, as Quincy comes to town.
