Box Score UW-Parkside boxscore in PDF

Junior Rita Flynn set a school record by hitting all nine shots from the field en route to a career-best 23 points to pace Maryville to a 78-60 win over Wisconsin-Parkside. Flynn broke the previous record for best perfect shooting percentage, which was an 8-for-8 performance by Erica Ragsdale Feb. 4, 2002, against Stephens College.

Flynn put the Saints ahead 4-0 by hitting consecutive baskets to start the game. The Rangers pulled to 6-4 until Flynn hit a 3-pointer to spark a 15-0 run. Shelby Miller scored on a drive, and Flynn followed with a bucket. A Miller basket pushed the edge to double digits, and Flynn completed a three-point play. Jordynn Martin sank one free throw, and Alex Hillyer's layup capped the run for a 21-4 advantage. The Rangers finally scored on a free throw, but the Saints tacked on another 9-0 burst to take control. Martin and Samantha Robison scored hoops to start the run. Flynn had another three-point play, and two free throws by Robison pushed the Saints edge to 30-5. Maryville still led 38-17 after an Erica Lorton layup and took a 38-19 lead at halftime.

The Rangers got as close as 40-24 four minutes into the second half but the Saints took control with 10 straight points. Hillyer hit a trey and followed with two free throws. Brittany Fish's 3-pointer and a layup by Lorton handed the Saints a 50-24 lead. The Rangers made a late push but the Saints held on to improve their record to 9-5 overall, 2-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

In addition to hitting all nine of her shots, Flynn made all four free throw attempts. Miller narrowly missed her first career double-double and had 10 points and tied her career high with nine rebounds to go along with five assists. Hillyer and Lorton both finished with 10 points apiece. Gaby Bronson led the Rangers (4-8 overall, 0-4 GLVC) with 15 points and eight rebounds.

The Saints are now 9-5 overall, 2-2 in the league. Maryville is next in action Thursday, Jan. 16, when No. 23 Quincy comes to town
